Sorry for the lack of communication

I don't honestly know where time goes to.

I have been really busy both at the quilt room and at school. It is a good job the evenings are becomming lighter.
During CanTeen week I made a quilt from Bandannas that was displayed in my local supermarket (New World) and from the display had over 180 bandannas donated so that I can make more quilts forCan Teen. I am about a quarter of the way through now, but if anyone wishes to help out just say so! All donations of help gladly accepted - whether it is binding, cutting or sewing together. The finished quilts look amazing and I am sure there will be some grateful teens when they are handed over.

More blocks have arrived :)

I'm so pleased to have so many clever industrious family and friends. I have more blocks to add to the planning stage of the quilt. I think it will be about 8 feet square when it is all together.

I promise I will add more pictures as I have them on hand.

Birthday Quilt

As I reach a milestone in my life I have elected to make a friendship quilt and asked friends, family and colleagues to join in. This entails making a block to go in the quilt. The only stipulations were it has to be  100% cotton and it HAS to be Blue and White.
I have been receiving parcels from around the world and can't wait to open them and see what wonders have been created. I have some very artistic friends so my expectations are high! The blocks I have been given so far are wonderful and I am so looking forward to putting them all together.
I will put a photo montage on the blog when I start to combine them.

On another tack altogether  - My friends in Australia who lost their houses in the floods in January are now back in their new houses, each with a new quilt! I am pleased they are getting their lives back to normal - let's just hope we can start to find a new normal here in Canterbury.

Where has March gone?

I can't believe it is already the end of March. I have been far too busy quilting and working at school to update my blog. Life has been hectic for all around here and doesn't look like it is going to get any easier over the next few weeks. Patchworkers are settling in to sew now the days are getting shorter and of course everyone wants their quilt as soon as possible! - some would like theirs yesterday! I wish I could manufacture me time that no-one else had access to so I could work on some of my own projecs without losing working time. If anyone knows the secret - please pass it on!!

After the quake

Well, it's now a week since our world was turned upside down - again. We are OK out in Rangiora and doing all we can to help the less fortunate in the Eastern suburbs of ChCh.
I have been busy in the sewing room and have quilted some neat patchwork for excited ladies.
I am also planning a quilt to raffle to raise funds for the Quake effort and will post pictures ASAP! Keep following to see the progress.

Hi Ho It's back to work I go!

Well, now the school term is back in full swing I have had to reduce my hours in the quilt room. That being said I have almost finished the quilt for Queeensland, made one for a friend's neice's baby who is due any day and made 3 customers very happy. Not bad for a week!

Hi there fellow quiltaholics,

I'm back on my feet following my surgery last year and have already quilted some amazing patchwork. I contacted Shirlwy Goodwin re the Pike River Quilts and helped her with a couple. The generosity of patchworkers knows no bounds.
I have since started another quilt to be sent over to the waterlogged folks in Queensland. I'm sure we all know someone who has lost all their posessions, so if one small (or not so small) quilt can help let's make more...
